About the Opportunity
The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), with support from the Ford Foundation, invites young graduates and civil society actors from Ghana and Nigeria to apply for our 6-month Next Generation Technology Internship Programme. This programme, running from August 2024 to January 2025, aims to leverage technology for social impact.
We are seeking 3 dynamic interns eager to gain practical experience in utilizing technology to bolster civil society initiatives.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum: First degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or related fields.
- Essential Skills:
- Demonstrated interest in civil society.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- Knowledge of Cloud computing tools.
- Strong knowledge in digital marketing.
- Confidence in using and applying data analysis tools.
- Strong technical, writing, and communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a multicultural environment.
- Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and take initiatives.
- Team-oriented.
Job Role
- Identify and propose solutions to potential digital technology-related issues.
- Design, plan, and implement technology solutions, documenting key processes and lessons learned for knowledge building.
- Assist in providing support for tech adoption and training in digital technology-related areas.
- Contribute to outreach and visibility of the tech programme through marketing support, branding, and partner engagement.
- Report on activities and analyze data to inform future actions, decision-making, and institutionalization of leading practices.
- Support other projects or initiatives undertaken by the Unit or across the organization.
Additional Information
- Location Details: The Nigerian intern will work mainly at the WACSI office in Abuja, Nigeria, while the Ghanaian intern will work mainly at the WACSI office in Accra, Ghana.
- Internship Period: August 2024 – January 2025.
- Reports: Interns are expected to produce a practicum and end-of-internship reports and a technology action plan for implementation pertaining to West Africa/Civil Society by the end of the internship period.
